Krispy Kreme currently has 210 stores operating in the US, of which 80 to 90 are company-owned and the rest are franchised. Internationally, the company has about 430 stores in 21 countries, all of which are franchised.
A specific country Krispy Kreme is targeting for expansion is Thailand, where its franchise owner KDN aims to open 20 stores in the next five years.
Jeff Welch, Krispy Kreme Doughnut’s International President, said: “We would like to double the number of international stores to close to 1,000 outlets in five years. We also plan for significant growth in the US.
“We have lots of room to grow in Thailand. In the next five years, we will also see a lot of growth in Europe in terms of new countries.”
