Leeds franchisee John Escritt was presented with an 'interesting opportunity' by Rowlinson, which had been appointed to install a mobile telecommunications site on the top of a seven storey office block.

The telecoms site had to be founded on a reinforced concrete base, normally a routine procedure but fraught with difficulties at a height of 31 metres above ground level, especially when the concrete was to be lifted by crane up the outside of the building and on to the plant room roof. In addition, the job had to be carried out on a Sunday when no-one was working in the building and while the road was closed to meet Health and Safety requirements.

Mark Frain, Project Manager at Rowlinson Constructions' Communications division explains: 'None of our regular suppliers were prepared to open a batching plant on a Sunday for the required quantity and the cost would have been astronomical. Then I found John Escritt at Mixamate, who couldn't have been more helpful and obliging. The job was completed fast, the concrete quality was first class, there was no waste, and no cleaning up afterwards.'

John says: 'We are very flexible and always do our best to meet our customers' needs. This job was unusual but interesting. I'm really pleased we were able to help and that everything turned out so well. We do enjoy a challenge!'
