Travel guide website MyDestinationInfo has announced that it has sold its 100th franchise.

Hong Kong is the latest addition to the global network of travel guides, marking a major milestone for the business, which was founded in 2006 with a budget of £600 and now is reported to have an annual turnover of over £1.5 million that is forecast to rise to £5 million by the end of the current financial year.

Hong Kong is the site’s second destination in China, a strategic new market for MyDestinationInfo. The new franchise will be launched by local residents, Mr Patrick and Mrs Mei and is expected to be available to the public by December.

The sale of the Hong Kong franchise follows a series of other recent franchise sales covering the Isle of Wight, Orlando and Chile. The Chile franchise has been bought by Alexander Johnston and is the network’s first site in South America. The Orlando franchise is owned by brothers Matt and Travis Hope, who have a combined 11 years of living in the Florida city.

Neil Waller, co-founder of MyDestinationInfo, said: “It’s hard to imagine that only five years ago we were about to launch our very first site. Over the period MyDestinationInfo has seen exponential growth and the sale of the 100th franchise shows a real appetite for investment in the company.

“These latest franchises signify our expansion into the important markets of Asia, South America and the United States. Our growing portfolio of destinations reflects the truly global business that MyDestinationInfo has become and cements our position as a leading competitors to other travel brands.”
