The awards recognise and celebrate organisations that are enterprising, innovative and are making an outstanding contribution to the region. The team behind Purple Care, the domiciliary care franchise, has been selected from organisations of all sizes and sectors to contest the Excellence in Skills & Development Award for organisations which 'demonstrate commitment to the learning and development of their workforce' and 'prioritise the pursuit of business excellence through the knowledge and skills of their staff'.

Jeff Alexander, Chair of the South East Business Awards and SEEDA Executive Director for Global Competitiveness, says: 'I am delighted that Prime Care has been short listed as a finalist for the Excellence in Skills and Development. The competition judges have recognised their expertise and record in the area of skills development. The excellence demonstrated by Prime Care will help other businesses around the region to consider implementing best practice and therefore drive business success throughout the region.'

Prime Care Quality Standards Director Nicki Allen adds: 'Prime Care was delighted to receive a National Training Award and to become a high-performance Investors in People (IiP) Profile organisation in 2006 - and to receive an 'excellent' inspection report from our industry regulator in 2007. The nomination for a prestigious South East Business Award has been a dream start to 2008 and underpins our commitment to our exciting new Purple Care national franchise operation.'
