Research by RetailMeNot and the Centre for Retail Research is predicting that the average shopper will spend more than £1,000 online during the course of this year – a large proportion of which may well take place in December.

All of which is great news for Ed Pockney who’s recently bought Driver Hire’s Uxbridge office. “A bumper Christmas for online retail sales means even higher demand for final mile delivery drivers,” says Ed. “And hopefully that will translate into higher demand for my team of skilled temporary drivers.”

Before deciding to buy his Driver Hire franchise, Ed spent nearly three decades working on the money markets in London, Singapore, Hong Kong and New York. For family reasons he was looking for a way to re-establish himself in the UK and started looking into franchising as a way of doing this – which is where he first came across Driver Hire.

“Driver Hire is one of the UK’s leading franchises with a proven business model and a long-history of success,” says Ed. “I was looking for a business with plenty of potential for growth which delivers a good return on your investment. Driver Hire ticked all the boxes.”
