Ofcom introduced the licensing system on 1st September 2006 in advance of the pan-European licensing regulations that are expected to become law shortly. The mandatory licence requires users of Ground radar equipment to adhere to a code of practice and to ensure the equipment they use complies with the emission regulations and EMC requirements.
SUMO's Franchise Director Colin Carnachan comments: 'It is very important for companies or individuals using GPR services to be aware of the new legal position. Anyone who commissions a survey needs to be certain that the company they engage is licensed and legally operating. SUMO customers they can be assured that we fully comply with these new licensing requirements. As the largest user of radar throughout Europe, we welcome this step towards a regulated industry.'
SUMO has worked on many of the most prestigious construction sites across the country including large town centre regeneration projects, new hospitals and major road building schemes. Recent sites include St John's Shopping Centre in Liverpool, Birmingham New Hospitals project, High Wycombe town regeneration and many Tesco sites across the UK.
