Recently celebrating 10 years as an OSCAR franchise owner Lesley Lavin, of Chesire, has found that over the decade she has successfully been able to combine family commitments with running her pet care business.


Lavin (pictured top) said: “Time flies when you are having fun and that is how I feel when celebrating my first 10 years as an OSCAR franchise owner. It all began when I was forced to change my career as a Midwifery Sister to care for my two children who needed my full-time attention for health reasons. Caring for others has been my life and when presented with a business opportunity that provides care for animals I saw the potential to work for myself – doing what I know best and with man’s best friend.

“OSCAR came to me through the internet and instinctively we clicked. I had found an unconditionally friendly, family business that appealed immediately for all the right reasons. Ideally, for me, the flexibility of running my OSCAR business has enabled me to maintain family life while continuing to develop a very healthy customer base. My husband helps when he possibly can but the support from head office and neighbouring franchise owners confirms the strength of our network. I am an individual but I belong to a much larger organisation that encourages teamwork.

“I love animals and in the early days my dogs, Sandy and Ben, were very much part of my business presentation; they were proof of a good quality product that produced a happier, healthier and longer life – the reward that the last 10 years has brought me. The evolution of life brings me new puppies to feed; it also helps me to solve tummy or skin problems and offers mobility to older dogs, as recently confirmed by a customer whose dog responded very quickly to a specific food within the range.

“I still enjoy working for myself and I will always recommend OSCAR for its business opportunity, for its support, products and services that have proved to be beneficial and convenient for my customers and, of course, successful for me.”
