Peter, 57, who lives in Folkestone, has swapped a career as a sales director for a cleaning products company to become his own boss, and plans to build the business so that he is employing a small team.

He has purchased an Ovenu franchise for the east Kent area, which allows him to run his own business, but with the support of a larger and respected organisation. He will deliver his environmentally-friendly oven valeting service to homes from Dover to Margate, including Sandwich, Deal, Broadstairs, Ramsgate and the surrounding areas.

Peter brings extensive sales and marketing experience to his new business, as well as the man-management skills he is hoping to be using as his business develops and grows.

Ovenu's valeting process is popular with householders across the UK, taking the pain out of one of the most hated and neglected chores. Since 1994 Ovenu's UK-wide network of over 100 franchisees have cleaned more than one million ovens, microwaves, and barbeques.

Its valeting service involves dismantling key components of an oven such as the door, interior panels, fan and shelves and placing them into design-registered equipment, which uses non-caustic products to clean the oven parts. The whole process takes around three hours and leaves the oven, hob and exterior in immaculate condition.

Peter said: 'The business I was in, selling cleaning materials, was shrinking. I felt it was important to move into a more specialised area, and this is an area of extensive growth. I won't be able to rely on my own labour for ever so plan to build the business so I can employ a small team.

'I've been very impressed with Ovenu, their training has been excellent and they've explained the pluses and the minuses. I'm ready to put in the hard work at the coalface, knowing that I have good support behind me. Working with Ovenu, I feel confident that I'll be able to build a really successful business.'

Rik Hellewell, Managing Director of Ovenu said: 'Peter brings a wealth of experience in sales, marketing and man management, and he is determined to become a very successful member of our UK network of franchisees. We will be supporting him throughout his time as an Ovenu franchisee and hope to watch him grow and develop his business across the area.'
