Papa John’s has continued its expansion in Russia with the opening of its fifth restaurant in the country.

WorldWide Papa’s, which owns the Papa John’s regional franchise rights for the St. Petersburg and Leningrad regions, has opened its fifth restaurant on Vasilievsky Island, and is planning to launch its sixth.

Darrin Stock, CEO and founder of WorldWide Papa’s, said: “The phenomenal success in sales that we’ve already received at this location has exceeded our expectations and further reinforces our belief in the untapped potential we’d initially recognised in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. Furthermore, our sixth location will be opening in less than a month, and we are currently sourcing locations for an additional three restaurants, bringing us ever closer to our ultimate goal of more than 40 restaurants by 2014.”

Papa John’s is a US-based pizza restaurant franchise, which opened its first outlet in 1985. According to the company it is one of the world’s largest pizza chains and currently has 3,200 stores operating across 29 countries.
