Nursing and care agency franchise Prestige Nursing has doubled the size of its UK franchise network after recruiting five new franchise owners. The franchise owners have purchased territories in South West London, Nottingham, Blackburn, North Manchester and South Hampshire.

"If anything, the recession has had a positive effect on our business," said Prestige Nursing Franchise Manager Pam Feltham. "Our network turnover is up by 22 per cent on 2008 while enquiries from potential care workers and nurses have increased by 35 per cent. This is because healthcare is an essential service - people will always need help at home or staffing in care home and hospitals regardless of the economic situation. We have successfully doubled the size of our franchise network by focusing on looking for franchise owners with specific funding as well as the right qualities."

Prospective franchise owners require £30,000 liquid capital and should have a background in sales, management and business development. "Our new franchise owner Chris Cotcher based in South West London is already up and running, while the other four are still in the process of launching," Pam continued. "We anticipate to have all of them up and running by the end of 2009."
