Hair salon franchise RUSH London has won two awards at the Salon Business's The Sapphires. RUSH London was awarded with Best Salon Interior and the ultimate award of the event, Franchisor of the Year. This was the second annual Sapphires, which is a hairdressing industry event that recognises and rewards success and business intelligence within the franchise sector.

In addition to its success at The Sapphires, RUSH London has also experienced continued expansion over the last few years and opened 16 new salons during 2009 and is expecting to open a further 10 in London this year.

RUSH London Chairman Andrew Phouli, who collected the Franchisor of the Year award, said: "RUSH has experienced an incredible year of growth which witnessed us opening 16 in 2009 alone. Recession or not, we are achieving our expansion plans. As far as I am aware, hair does not stop growing during a recession, and you can't get it cut online. RUSH is recession proof. I am proud to collect this award on behalf of the entire team at RUSH who helped make this happen."

Editor of Salon Business Charisse Kenion added: "As Franchisor of the Year, RUSH London should be so proud; our external panel of judges for The Sapphires felt that the RUSH brand is one that remains highly professional, yet not overly corporate.

"When it came to the salon group's Salon Design win, the judges felt they had cleverly adapted each location and building to not only suit the image of the brand, but also took into consideration local needs, and ensured that the franchise owner maintained a sense of individuality. A job well done - congratulations."
