Signs Express Leeds has recreated the Mr Men and Little Miss characters to commemorate children's author Roger Hargreaves.

The signage design and manufacturer franchise was contacted by Arriva Yorkshire to produce graphics to be applied to 14 buses, which would pass through Cleckheaton, Rodger Hargreaves' birthplace. The buses, which include Little Miss Sunshine, Mr Happy, Mr Tickle and Little Miss Chatterbox, commemorate Hargreaves' successful book series.

Having worked for Arriva in the past, Signs Express Leeds produced the graphics using full colour digital print vinyl and with fitting in both the arrival of the new buses from Scotland and their timetables when in use. Rick Nurse sales executive, commented: 'The buses were originally in Scotland when we were first asked to produce the graphics, but due to the distance we needed to call in the help of Signs Express Falkirk to provide initial measurements and photographs prior to the buses arriving. It was then a case of waiting for them to arrive a the bus depot and fit around their peak usage time.'

The new vehicles represent an investment of £2.3 million for Arriva and the local community. Chloe Leach marketing and communications manager, for Arriva Yorkshire said: 'We had worked with Signs Express in Leeds on various smaller projects throughout the year and were very impressed with their willingness to meet tight deadlines. They are very professional and always respond quickly to any queries we have. I was delighted with the outcome and the local community love the buses! We look forward to working with them in the future.'
