The 800 sq ft shop joins the other 11 owned outlets owned by Subway franchise owner Raj Rao. The new store is located just outside Cromer in Norfolk.

Subway is increasingly looking to open more stores in non-traditional locations such as forecourt sites, within convenience stores, universities and colleges. It currently operates more than 300 of these stores in the UK.

This is the first Subway to tie-up with the supermarket Lidl. Subway area development manager for the UK and Ireland Trevor Haynes is hopeful it could be the first of many and commented: “The simple operations that are involved in running a Subway franchise and the convenience offer make it a perfect fit for these style locations.”

Haynes continued: “The partnership with Lidl is the first of its kind and we are excited to see what this could lead to in the future.”
