The increase in turnover is due to the last quarter of 2007, as Driver Hire's customer list was dominated by leading parcel delivery companies, which required the help of temporary delivery drivers to transport goods bought online in time for Christmas. The British Retail Consortium has reported that internet sales grew by 54 per cent last year, which is equivalent to 15 pence of every £1 of retail spending.

Chief Executive of Driver Hire Chris Chidley said: 'I am delighted at this success. Once again Driver Hire has demonstrated its ability to identify niche market opportunities and take advantage of them for the benefit of all the franchisees. Of course this isn't the only compelling reason for customers to choose Driver Hire, another key factor is the company's hard-earned reputation for quality and compliance towards road transport legislation such as drivers' hours and tachograph rules.'

Driver Hire has a nationwide network of over 100 offices and is one of the country's largest suppliers of both temporary and permanent staff to the transport and logistics industry.
