A husband and wife team have launched the latest Venture Photography franchise, which is located on Southampton’s London Road.

Martin and Michelle Hillman, who are originally from South Africa, launched their state-of-the-art Venture Photography studio earlier this month.

Mrs Hillman said: “We’ve relocated the whole family from Durham to start our new business and, although it’s been a manic last few months in preparation for our launch, we’re really excited about living and working here in Southampton.

“Over the last few weeks we’ve been exhibiting our work at locations across the county and the response we’ve had so far to the inimitable Venture style has been fantastic.


“Our photographers are trained to capture character and personality using personal items and cutting edge techniques, so the final result is something really special representing each unique family we work with.

“This could be capturing certain mannerisms, special relationships or even shared hobbies and interests with personal items – ensuring that the work we produce is completely bespoke.”

Mrs Hillman worked across a number of different sectors in marketing, fundraising and administrative roles, and Mr Hillman comes from a creative background having spent a number of years in television as a design and brand specialist. He was most recently a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader in animation and multi-media design at the University of Sunderland.

The Hillmans decided to invest in the franchise as it presented an opportunity to combine their skills and build a new business together, working around their family.

Mrs Hillman added: “We have two children aged 13 and three, so Venture gave us the opportunity to work more flexibly with the support of an established brand.

“It’s been a fantastic experience so far and we have a very talented and creative team on board in the new studio.

“We’re looking forward to being based in the thriving city centre and meeting local people to deliver our premium photography experience. It’s the start of a whole new way of life for us both and we’re ready for the challenge.”
