Compact Vending: Bill CarrieArea: Dundee, Perth & Aberdeen
“Before joining Snack-in-the Box in 2003, I had spent most of my career as a lorry driver. I had always wanted to work for myself but as I had very little business experience, I didn’t feel confident about starting a business from scratch.
“Aware of the benefits that franchising had to offer, I used The Franchise Magazine to research the businessopportunities available. The SITB franchise was very appealing as it is a recognised national brand and provides a service, which will always be in demand – everyone loves chocolate!
“SITB sent me on a one-week course where I received excellent training covering all aspects of the business – from marketing and sales to customer service.
“I initially joined SITB as an honesty box franchise owner but when the opportunity to buy the compact vending business became available in 2006, I jumped at the chance.
“I really enjoy the freedom my SITB business provides, I love being my own boss and the flexibility it gives me so that I am able to run my own business. However, being part of a franchise, SITB is always there if I ever need any help, it’s greatto have that support network.
“Since launching my SITB franchise in 2003, I have seen my business develop so rapidly that I am hitting a weekly turnover of £5,000 and have had to employ two part-time employees to help manage my 176 customers!”
