Joanna Lee, Bluebird Care (Cheshire East)

\"Taking this franchise opportunity has been my smartest career move to date.\"

Following a varied career in nursing and the corporate world, Joanna Lee was keen to work for herself. In preference to going it alone, Joanna decided to invest in the Bluebird Care franchise in July 2007 and has gone on to build a thriving business that delivers nearly 3,000 care visits a month to residents across Cheshire East.

"I first spotted Bluebird Care in a copy of The Franchise Magazine and was struck by its professionalism and the support package on offer," reveals Joanna. "Investing in a care at home franchise appealed because I would be able to put my business knowledge and nursing skills to good use with the ongoing support of an established brand. The fact I would be building a lucrative business that gave something back to the community was an added bonus.

"Meetings with the Bluebird Care management team and telephone calls to the existing franchise owners followed, which revealed that we shared the same aspirations and values. So I followed my gut instinct and signed the franchise agreement.

"Bluebird Care has supported me every step of the way. Before the launch of my franchise I was sent on a comprehensive training course which covered all aspects of running the business and since then if I ever have any problems or queries a member of the management team is only a phone call away.

"Taking this franchise opportunity has been my smartest career move to date. Running your own business can be challenging, however it is also very rewarding - especially now I have built the business up to the point where I can take a step back and delegate some of the day-to-day work to my Care Manager. This means I have more time for me, my daughter and to focus on the overall development of the brand within my territory. This has already resulted in me taking on an expanded area to increase the scale of my business and I've been really pleased to renew my franchise agreement early."
