Judy Mizen, Basingstoke

Although I've always been interested in property, my previous career was as a physiotherapist and, more recently, housewife and mum. I'd not considered franchising until I met Platinum Property Partners co-Founder Steve Bolton at an overseas home exhibition, and heard him talk about this completely unique new franchise opportunity.

Steve and his co-founding business partner, Nick Carlile, both came across as utterly sincere and having a lot of integrity, but I took the time to do my own research on the company and industry. My husband Chris and I were so impressed with what we found that we signed up as one of 10 Foundation Franchise Partners.

Chris has his own successful business in the filming industry, so I mainly run our Platinum Property Partners franchise. I've found I really enjoy all aspects of the business, especially dealing with the acquisition and refurbishment of the properties. Although I had no experience in this industry previously, I felt fully prepared when we launched our Basingstoke-based franchise last June due to the one-to-one mentoring I'd received from Steve - this personal approach was one of the things that had drawn us to Platinum Property Partners in the first place.

Since our launch I've received telephone and online support from head office whenever I've needed it. Additionally there are Franchise Partner Workshops, which are two-day interactive training & development courses held every other month. These not only help constantly refine our skills in most aspects of the property investment industry, but they also give franchisees the opportunity to get to know each other better, which provides an extra support network.

At the moment I'm concentrating on building up my cash-positive portfolio so I will have a good regular income, but in the future I'm looking forward to taking on more exciting projects, with overseas investments and also developing in the UK, both of which I know I can do with the support of the franchise.
