Revive! is the UK’s premium SMART repairer and pioneers in their field. The latest innovation has been to drive credibility to the sector – a task that has taken over two years, but something that is coming to fruition following the successful pilot of the latest ATA module of Cosmetic repairs.
The ‘Automotive Technician Accreditation’ (ATA) has been around since 2005 and has become a recognised standard of excellence for people working within the automotive sector.
Until recently, this accreditation wasn’t available to SMART Repairers. Revive! has been instrumental in the development of the ATA having worked with the IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) and other experts within the industry to pool their knowledge and create core competencies that technicians can be assessed against. The accreditation includes a professional register that customers can refer to when they are looking for a repairer they can trust.

The objective of creating a national standard was to drive up standards across the board and I am delighted by the interest this has generated in the sector. At Revive! we are fortunate to have been part of the pilot accreditations and delighted that our training school is one of the first accredited centers to offer the cosmetic repair ATA in the country.
Revive! has seen the benefit in having accredited professional technicians. Revive! Luton franchise owner, Adam Smith, has seen his business grow by 91 per cent in the last year, despite a continued tough economic climate.
“Car sales have slowed down and it seems that dealers are now far more particular about who does the work for them,” says Adam. “Cheap and cheerful is now not an option as they require professional repairers who can seriously add value to the dealership. As a consequence we have seen our business flourish and have added three vans this year.”
Startups Finalist – putting customer service first
Adam was recently shortlisted as a finalist at the prestigious Startups Awards. “It is great to be recognised for having a fast growing business and testament to all the hard work that the guys have put in,” adds Adam. “In any climate, great customer service will always shine and that is a key focus for us. We were really delighted to have been shortlisted – but more importantly is keeping the business on track and we hope to add another three vans this year. “
Russell Hudson, of Revive! West Lincolnshire, is another example of using expert professional skills to develop the business. With an established business Russell has continued to develop and grown by a further 31 per cent in 2011.
“There is no doubt that dealers are more choosy over who they work with,” says Russell. “Having an accreditation really separates professional smart repairers from the rest and it has made a significant difference to my business.”
Russell intends to continue the growth in 2012 and add a further two vans to the five he currently runs dominating the local market.
