I joined ChipsAway eleven years ago straight out of college when I was only 19 years old. At that point I was living at home with my parents and was possibly the network's youngest franchise owner.
In the early days, I had few responsibilities and my main priorities were pleasing myself and earning enough beer money. However, as time went on I moved into a place of my own and had to take things a bit more seriously. That meant working quite a lot harder. Earning more and watching my business grow was very satisfying as well as financially rewarding. These days I am married with a mortgage to pay and two young children to bring up - ChipsAway has continued to provide me with a good living and a decent lifestyle as well as the flexibility to spend time with my family. Over the last 10 years or so, I have built a solid business with a strong, regular customer base and I enjoy being my own boss.
I signed for a third five year term last year and have recently expanded to encompass more private clients as well as providing services to long standing 'trade' customers, including several large automotive dealerships. My plans include my brother-in-law possibly joining the business in the near future to help cope with the increasing workload. Having accompanied me on a few jobs he can see it's a great career choice for a practical, hard working person.
Despite the difficult financial climate last year, my business has continued to thrive, my order books are looking healthy and I'm looking forward to another successful year as a ChipsAway franchise owner!
