Backed by a leading service organisation

Multi-sales opportunities, increased growth and profitability, access to vast resources... just some of the advantages enjoyed by Dyno Group franchisees. Rachel Spaul reports

Part of Centrica for over a year and a household name in its own right, Dyno Group leverages the resources of a leading service organisation and over 40 years of franchising experience.

The company's alliance with Centrica is enhancing the earning opportunities for franchisees in each of Dyno's three franchise divisions: Dyno-Rod Drains, dealing with drain cleaning, surveying and repair; Dyno-Rod Plumbing, which handles emergency plumbing repairs; and Dyno-Secure, a locksmith and security equipment installation business.

Service standards have been upgraded with sharper quality control procedures, revised health and safety policies and an increased focus on customer care. Centrica's expertise in key areas such as marketing, training and call centre management is helping improve the support that Dyno offers its 160 franchisees. To build market share, the company has invested in new products and embarked on a major IT system overhaul, which will further enhance the efficiency and service quality of franchisees' businesses.

'Dyno-Rod is an established leader of the drain maintenance market and a founder member of the bfa,' states Clive Smith, Director of the Dyno Group.

'Being part of Centrica will enable us to strengthen our position further and to rapidly expand our franchised plumbing and security businesses. It is a very exciting time for franchisees.' One of the greatest advantages for franchisees is access to the British Gas customer base. The 15 million domestic and commercial British Gas customers offer an excellent and substantial sales opportunity, which is already paying dividends. Franchisees are benefiting from regular work as a result of cross-selling campaigns. The business is also better positioned to develop new markets, particularly the insurance and utilities sectors.

Dyno offers three management franchise opportunities, each of which involves running and developing a multi-van business. Dyno-Rod Plumbing aims to take advantage of substantial local demand for professional and reliable plumbers.

You do not need to be a qualified plumber, but a reasonable knowledge of plumbing systems and techniques is expected. The franchise may initially be run from home, operating one or two liveried vans increasing to four by the end of year two.

Also a home-based management business, Dyno-Secure is primarily a security service engaged in the installation and servicing of security equipment, particularly intruder alarms. Franchisees currently service British Gas' established portfolio of domestic intruder alarm customers and Dyno Group plans to aggressively build on this platform increasing its share of the alarm market. Providing an emergency locksmith service is a core activity of the business and board up/glazing can also be offered to create a complete security service.

Franchise opportunities exist throughout the UK for Dyno-Rod Plumbing and Dyno-Secure, Dyno-Rod drain services is an established brand offering limited re-sale opportunities. 'As a Dyno Group franchisee you need to have a broad range of commercial skills,' Clive outlines. 'Managing a Dyno franchise requires leadership, staff motivation, financial control, marketing and communication.'

Dyno Group seeks determined, enterprising people with the ability to utilise the comprehensive training, support and developmental resources of Centrica to effectively exploit the potential of the Dyno Group franchise and develop substantial businesses.
