Multiple rewards with a MOLLY MAID franchise
MOLLY MAID Franchise Owner Sandra Redmond reveals the benefits of operating her thriving Wimbledon-based franchise
Wnner of the prestigious bfa (British Franchise Association) Franchisee of the Year Gold Award 2009, MOLLY MAID Franchise Owner and mother-of-one Sandra Redmond has juggled running her thriving business with looking after her family and is now reaping the rewards of her hard work.
"I am a firm believer that with good planning and the ability to recognise opportunities you can achieve great rewards," beams Sandra. "I joined MOLLY MAID in 1995 and over the last 15 years have built up the business to an annual turnover of almost £640,000. Getting to this stage has been hard work, but very rewarding because I am now able to dictate the hours I work, the salary I earn and when I can go on holiday.
"Before I joined MOLLY MAID, I worked in sales and marketing and the role involved a lot of travel. One day a friend rang to say she was thinking of selling her Wimbledon-based MOLLY MAID franchise and was I interested in buying it. I had never thought about investing in a franchise until this opportunity became available. I liked the thought of becoming my own boss, running my own business and implementing my own ideas with the ongoing support of an established brand, so after two weeks of in-depth research decided to invest."
Established in the UK in 1984, MOLLY MAID is a management franchise in the domestic cleaning sector. The role of the franchise owner is to manage the cleaning contracts and organise the cleaning staff to deliver quality cleans to residents within their defined territory. As part of the franchise package, all new Franchise Owners attend a one-week training programme and have access to ongoing support. In Sandra's case however, she was unable to attend the training course because she had to takeover the business quickly. "I more or less had to do my training on the job," recalls Sandra. "The support team were wonderful - they were happy to let you get on and run your business and if you want lots of help they are always on hand."
While winning the bfa Franchisee of the Year Gold Award was an "amazing" experience for Sandra, operating her successful MOLLY MAID franchise has enabled her to reap other rewards. Sandra reveals: "As I have maintained a consistent high weekly turnover, I am now a member of the MOLLY MAID Gold President Circle and my success is rewarded with advertising credits as well as excursions with the other members. In 2009 I also qualified for the MOLLY MAID travel incentive and my hard work has been recognised with a holiday in Antigua with the other qualifying MOLLY MAID Franchise Owners.
"I would definitely recommend franchising to other women because it gives you complete control of your work/life balance. By being my own boss, I was able to plan better and be more flexible during school holidays. I am very happy with the franchise and even when I am 'frazzled' after a tough week, I do not dread going back into work. I drive the car that I want and I am now able to visit my extended family in Italy on a more regular basis!"
