Prontaprint: Four easy routes to join the Number 1 brand
A market leader for 35 years, Prontaprint is the largest and best-known print-on-demand franchise in Europe and the first print business to achieve 'Business Superbrand' status. With four different routes into the business, joining the Prontaprint success story has never been so easy
Budding entrepreneurs can invest in a brand new centre, take over an existing centre or rebrand an existing print and design business. You can also join an existing Prontaprint centre as a senior sales employee, with a view to acquiring the business later on with a management buy in. As Prontaprint continues to roll out its new brand positioning as part of a £3 million investment programme, we are looking for franchisees with a unique mix of entrepreneurial spirit, ambition and drive.
Keith Davidson, Prontaprint's Head of Marketing, comments: 'Every entrepreneur is different. That's why we offer four distinctive routes into Prontaprint to ensure we cater for a wide range of investors. By developing a brand which clearly differentiates Prontaprint in the business-to-business marketplace, we are able to offer potential franchisees an extremely attractive business opportunity, whichever route they choose.'
Many centre turnovers are now in excess of £1 million as the Prontaprint brand attracts more higher value business clients. One direct route into Prontaprint is to buy into the management of an existing centre, where you will work with the franchisee and gain high-level sales experience before deciding whether to take on the business yourself.
This approach has proven a huge success for Steve Barber, who first bought into Prontaprint Victoria in 2004 while managing the centre. By using the businesses profits to increase his stake in the business, Steve is set to complete his buyout before the end of 2007. 'Taking on an existing business gives you several advantages,' says Steve. 'You'll have a ready cash flow and significant turnover from day one as well as an established team of experienced professionals. Additionally, you will benefit from existing client relationships ready for you to cultivate from an already fully equipped centre.'
If an existing centre doesn't take your fancy, you can take the direct route of opening a brand new centre. That's exactly what the family team behind Prontaprint Finchley did, and two years on from opening sisters Deepa and Kalla Patel have achieved their sales turnover targets for the past 12 months and are continuously growing. Deepa comments: 'Over the past two years, we've worked hard to build up a reputation in the local business community and undoubtedly the Prontaprint brand has been critical in helping us to do so. There is always expertise and advice on hand when you need it whether it's related to business development, marketing, purchasing, IT, technical or training. It would have been difficult to achieve the same success as a stand-alone family business. We wouldn't have had the time or the money to buy in all the expertise.'
If you have the ambition to succeed and a background in business management, have direct sales experience and are IT savvy, the rewards are there for the taking.
