Second annual The Sapphire Awards provide plenty of sparkle
The second annual The Sapphire Awards saw RUSH London pick up the award for Franchisor of the Year, while four TONI&GUY franchise owners received individual awards.
Presented by Salon Business magazine, The Sapphire Awards recognise franchising excellence in the hairdressing industry. This year's ceremony was held at The Dorchester Hotel in London and was attended by top franchising professionals including The Franchise Magazine publishers Roy and Judy Seaman, as well as a host of representatives from the top hairdressing salon franchises including TONI&GUY, RUSH London and Saks.
TONI&GUY dominated the awards for franchise owners including the award for Franchise Owner of the Year, which went to Tim Avory owner of TONI&GUY Guildford. Saks also featured heavily winning three awards in total - Best Local Marketing, Best Corporate Image, and The Sapphires' Pioneer Award.
The prestigious Franchisor of the Year award was won by RUSH London, which also won Best Salon Interiors. On receiving the Franchisor of the Year award Andrew Phouli, Chairman of RUSH London, said: "RUSH has experienced an incredible year of growth which witnessed us opening 16 in 2009 alone. Recession or not, we are achieving our expansion plans. As far as I am aware, hair does not stop growing during a recession, and you can't get it cut online. RUSH is recession proof. I am proud to collect this award on behalf of the entire team at RUSH who helped make this happen."
Charisse Kenion, Editor of Salon Business, was thoroughly impressed with RUSH London: "As Franchisor of the Year, RUSH London should be so proud; our external panel of judges for The Sapphires felt that the RUSH brand is one that remains highly professional, yet not overly corporate.
"When it came to the salon group's Best Salon Interiors win, the judges felt they had cleverly adapted each location and building to not only suit the image of the brand, but also took into consideration local needs, and ensured that the franchise owner maintained a sense of individuality. A job well done - congratulations."
