Apart of one of the world’s largest and most successful lawn care companies, the business started trading in 2004, but was sold by former owner Ed Lawrence in a deal that included vehicles, equipment and its loyal customer base.
Originally a Sales and Account Manager in London, Hazell (26) from St Albans, underwent intensive training from one of the lawn care industry’s most experienced professionals, and TruGreen Operations Brand Manager, Steve Welch. The business will continue to trade as TruGreen Hertfordshire under a new five-year, rolling franchise agreement.
Hazell said: “The large investment I’ve made into the business is testament to both its current success and potential to double in size. In the New Year, I will be investing further to bring in more staff to help handle the workload and expand the operation from where it is now.
“The decision to purchase a franchise, rather than start my own business, came from over six months of research into the options. ServiceMaster is one of the oldest franchisors in the UK and TruGreen is a reputable brand with great prospects. I hope my investment will benefit the area of Hertfordshire in terms of creating jobs in the long term.”
Lawrence added: “I’m pleased that somebody of Andy’s calibre has bought the business; I know he will take it forward and continue the good work we have done so far. I wish him all the best.”
Steve Welch concluded: “TruGreen has a proven franchise model and offers customers the best service available. Andy has the local knowledge and expertise to ensure his customers receive the lawn care they deserve.”
