After over 40 years the world’s biggest fast-food chain said it would drop Heinz after Bernardo Hees, the former head of Burger King, took over as chief executive.
A McDonald’s spokesman said: “We have decided to transition our business to other suppliers over time.”
McDonald’s continued: “to ensure a smooth and orderly transition of the McDonald’s restaurant business.”
In February, Heinz was purchased in a £17.3 billion takeover. Hees was brought into Heinz by Warren Buffett’s 3G Capital.
