Development agent for the SUBWAY in Ireland, Neil Black said: “Ireland is a great success story for the SUBWAY brand as evidenced by our strong growth over the past few years. In the midst of the recession we have invested and grown our network and it is a great achievement to be opening the 1,700th store in the UK and Ireland in Douglas, Cork.”
The owner of the latest Subway, Owen O’Driscoll, who now operates three SUBWAY’s and employs 26 people said that the success of the business is down to the strength of both the brand and the product. “Starting from a base of zero I now employ a team of over 26 people across three stores. From a consumer perspective the SUBWAY brand is a real attraction, bringing consumers the very best sandwiches with healthier options and great value. From a business perspective, the low costs involved in set-up, allied to the brand strength and the support of a network of small business owners just like me makes it an ideal new business venture,” he said.
This has been an impressive year for the sandwich maker, earlier this year the brand opened its 40,000 branch.
