Introducing Naz Asghar – Caremark (Cheshire North East)

Naz Asghar, Director of Caremark (Cheshire North East) started her professional life in the field of engineering, a far cry from the care industry. However, her desire to own and run her own successful business has always been her inner driving force. She has now achieved this and has a thriving Caremark franchise operating in North East Cheshire.

Prior to considering the world of franchising, Naz worked as a Property Consultant. Having a degree in civil engineering, a move into this industry was logical and she began purchasing land for house builders. Naz continued in this sector for 10 years but her desire to be her own boss never left her wish list.

Franchising eventually caught her attention and thus began Naz's journey into looking at various franchise opportunities, which she admits, were at first in the food sector e.g. fast food delivery, coffee franchises as well as others within her current sector of work and consultancy services.

It was during her research that Naz discovered the care industry. It soon became apparent that this would be an area worth closer inspection as the industry was still continuing to expand in spite of tough economic times. A franchise in home care began to look a viable business opportunity and led Naz to research a number of care providers.

"We carried out a vast amount of research including looking at the Caremark website and researching and meeting with other franchises in this sector and we felt it to be a recession-proof industry where, with the correct support from the franchisor, we could launch and develop a viable and rewarding business," says Naz.

When asked why she particularly liked Caremark above the other franchisors, Naz comments: "We found the whole Caremark team professional, helpful and supportive, as well as passionate and dedicated about the brand and the business. Ultimately, the passion and drive that Kevin Lewis, the company Principal, had for the company and his ambition to deliver a standard of care above and beyond other companies were the major factors which cemented our decision to choose the Caremark franchise. We were convinced we would get the support required to operate the business, particularly due to the lack of experience we had in this sector, as long as we adhered to the proven system and business model."

The years spent in her previous career across several sectors made the transition to that of a franchise owner relatively straightforward. However, having no previous experience of the highly regulated care sector, Naz was reassured by the level of support given by the Caremark Support Team as she launched, developed and grew her business.

"We are working very hard to establish a unique and quality service and would like to be recognised in our patch to be the best care provider in terms of quality of care as well as customer service," says Naz.

Having achieved her dream to own and run her own business Naz reflected on that achievement and why she enjoyed being her own boss.

"I really enjoy the flexibility and ability to make the decisions which will ultimately effect the growth and development of the business and the opportunity to really help clients who require support. My management team in the office are extremely hard working and dedicated to achieving the same goals as myself and being my own boss gives me the autonomy to choose further key members of staff to maintain the overall aims and outcomes of the service."

Having her own business in a rewarding sector and having the flexibility to run the service with a view to provide high quality care to her clients has been very satisfying. Running and developing a business takes up a lot time, but Naz still manages to find time to enjoy socialising with friends and family. Plus being her own boss has enabled Naz to organise her business and family life as she would like it.

In her view, there are three qualities that one needs to be successful in business: to have focus, determination and not be afraid of sheer hard work!

"If you really set your mind on something and even in a different field from what you are accustomed, then you can achieve your goals and ambitions with the correct support. I believe the simple equation of maximum effort equals reward to be true in all aspects of life and once success and reward is achieved, one should never become complacent," concludes Naz.

By all accounts Caremark (Cheshire North East) is heading for great things!
